How do you take over from your charismatic boss?

… when it comes time to take over for their father at the helm of the company—or simply for their boss as head of the department—the successor is torn between a clean break and continuity. Here are a few tips for establishing their legitimacy 🙂

adapting values without breaking with the past

“Bring about change to set yourself apart.” The advice for the new owner is to showcase their expertise, highlight their knowledge, education, and past projects. To make people forget the predecessor, you have to take the lead. The successor taking the reins should implement change gradually while preserving the core values that have made the company successful.

There are those who leave without planning for what comes next… and just say, “Come what may.”
A leader who steps down has a role to play in legitimizing his or her successor. There are leaders who readily accept the idea of handing over the reins and prepare for succession by passing on knowledge and authority. And there are those who will undermine their successor’s morale by showing them that they’ll never measure up.

Elizabeth or nothing else

No doubt the secret to her longevity lies in her steadfast silence: “never explain, never complain.”
The new king will have to build his reign by maintaining family harmony, so as not to be seen as the odd one out. Charles will therefore only be able to ensure the continuity of the monarchy by doing what Elizabeth did.
Keep calm and have fun
